How to enjoy the State of the Union Address
01.20.04 (12:24 pm)   [edit]
It's quite simple really. Every year, the President of the United States (sorry, I'm not cool enough to use "POTUS" (no offense, jimdoney)) gives a speech to the nation detailing, well, the state of the Union, and his proposals for improvement along with boasting for what he has done over the past year (disregarding or putting a positive spin on the neglected or mishandled issues of the past year). Last year, I sat through Bush's address and, for the most part, either laughed after whatever inane statement he made or got angry at how misleading his statements generally were (and how many would conclude that what he was saying was truthful or right). There just has to be a better way to watch the State of the Union Address. I believe I have found it. For anyone wanting a way to stay in the loop politically by watching the Address, but don't want the negative repercussions of having to actually focus on or even comprehend what Bush says, I suggest you go to this site and take their suggestion. Not only will you be able to enjoy the State of the Union Address, you will have the opportunity to read the transcript of the speech for yourself the next day, seeing as you likely won't remember having watched it in the first place.

Anyone watching Shrub's neo-orwellian propaganda shit tonight ought to read this beforehand: http://news.independent.co.uk/world/americas/story.jsp?story=482947

As newbie said, Shrub has lied so often, squandered billions of dollars that we don't have because he has awarded MASSIVE WELFARE & BIG GOVT. BOONDOGGLES TO his rich corporate pimps, the wealthiest plutocrats, and the richest-of-the-rich-- and placed our nation in peril with WARS ON COUNTRIES THAT DIDN'T ATTACK US-- while Osama bin Forgotten (who did attack us) is at large and Al Qaida is GROWING!!!

If Congress had any BALLS, they'd LAUGH SHRUB OUT OF THE CHAMBER!!!

Ah, that's what POTUS stands for.
Ah, those speeches always put me to sleep. I'll just read the condensed summary the next day- maybe on FoxNews.com

I think it'd be kind of funny to see everyone at the speech playing this drinking game. :)

Yeah, there's a nice disclaimer on the site saying they don't encourage irresponsible drinking and stress the importance of knowing your limit, but if you truly went by their guidelines for the game, you wouldn't be in very good shape, no matter who you are.

Yeah, it took me a while to figure out what the hell POTUS stood for, but there it is.

If you play the drinking game, you will definitely be put to sleep while watching the speech- quite possibly a permanent sleep. Seriously though, there is a certain entertainment quality with any of Bush's speeches; you should watch it, I'm sure you could find something humorous in it (it's better to watch it live than read the transcript yourself- unless you have a tendency to make Bushisms, as well). :)
