John Kerry?
01.19.04 (11:18 pm)   [edit]
It seems that John Kerry's recent surge was enough to secure a victory in the Iowa caucus. John Edwards finished in a close second, with Dean and Gephardt finishing out the top four. For Gephardt, this is the end of a political career. For Dean, this provides a great challenge in the upcoming race in New Hampshire. As for Kerry and Edwards, the underdog mentality will now be erased and a new authority will be given to their campaigns. Up to about a week ago, there was very little doubt that Dean would not be victorious in Iowa. So what happened to Dean?

According to MSNBC.com, a great deal of Dean's dwindling popularity was due to a seeming arrogance, a condescending nature in Dean. "Other rank-and-file Iowa Democrats repeatedly used the word “arrogant” to describe Dean." Also, there was much discussion on the candidates' involvement, or non-involvement, in the Vietnam war. Kerry served in the Navy during this time; Dean was cleared from being drafted. Dean asserted that all the attacks directed at him took their toll and resulted in boosting the appeal of the less publicized (and therefore less criticized) candidates.

What this means for the Democratic Party in general, I couldn't tell you. We'll just have to wait and see.

The pundits (I love that word because it seems that everyone is a pundit now a days) related the "arrogance" seen in the Dean camp to that which was percieved by Iowans in Reagan's campaign in the 80 caucus. So if you believe that and Dean can make a step to correct the problem (Which he seems to be doing with his "moderate" claims in new ads airing in New Hampshire) like Reagan did he should still be ok. Super Tuesday will be the real day of atrition but I dont see a clear cut favorite before the DNC. Or maybe that just my hope as a Bush supporter I dont know which.

I think it is a case of the Corporate Media working a miracle for the Repugnants in return for Colin Powell's son Michael loosening the media ownership laws.
See, Presidents puppet makes possible for Rupert Murdock et al to increase their media ownership (Monopoly game). In return, the media pretends that Skull and Bones member Kerry is doing well in the poles.
Kerry voted for the war.
Kerry did not vote AGAINST the screw the old people, reward the pharmaceutical industry MEDICARE BILL. He didnt vote at all, but he could have voted against it if he cared about old people. He is bought and paid for.
If a candidate voted for the war, then I prefer not to vote for them.
If they copped out over the medicare fleecing of the elderly, than I despise them.
Dean isn't arrogant, except to the a holes that are mad that the people want to choose our own leader, not have the Washington insiders do it for and to us.
I would have found a way out of the draft for vietnam too. It was a bogus war, and proven so when Danielle Ellsburg revealed the Pentagon Papers to the country to see. Then, Ellsburg was cleared of charges of treason, and Nixon was impeached. Vietnam was bogus.
Dean never pretended to be a soldier. Bush did. Go to google, type in the word "awol" then hit the google button that says "I'm feeling lucky".

My bottom line is: the republicans would rather have Kerry as President if Shrub isnt the next one.
Kerry is a pretend Democrat, going along with the old Republican party line. More war, cause he voted for it. Claims he went on what the admin told him. Well, then he made the wrong decision. I would rather someone did what was best for our country, not for Carlyle group or the pharmaceutical companies.
Kerry is beholden to Insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. That is why he did not excercise his privilege to vote against the horrible medicare bill.
That bill stinks, I know, I have an 80 year old living in my home.
