A "resolution", merely for the sake of having one because it's the "New Year", and because everyone else does it--without granting much thought to that resolution--is bound and doomed to fail. Goals, or "resolutions" that one makes should not have to wait until the first of the new year, or be limited by the span of that year. I have goals that are so dear to me, that they are open-ended, meaning that if it takes me the rest of my life, I shall complete them. But to achieve your goals, it must take action and a willing desire to gain that which is sought after. I don't wait for January first; in fact, if I did, I'd have volumes, ideas on napkins, and random notes saved for that one day, to complete in 365. Each day I make goals--some short term, some long--from cleaning my apartment, to considering and budgeting for the purchase of a house. The dream of the possible--or goals--need to have action to keep them alive! N |
