Statue with stigmata
12.04.03 (7:14 pm)   [edit]
That's right, a statue in the southern Italy town of Brancaleone has reportedly had a red liquid coming out of the eyes. The statue is of Padre Pio, a mystic monk who was made a saint last year. Padre Pio had the stigmata when he was alive. Therefore, the statue must also have the stigmata. The faithful are calling it a miracle, naturally.

And some people are calling this a hoax! What's wrong with them? Deviants! What more evidence of a miracle could one possibly need? Red liquid (tests are underway to determine whether the traces of blood found in the liquid is human or animal blood) seeping out of the eyelids of a statue, and not just any statue, mind you- a statue of a saintly stigmatic mystic. It's clear that this must be a miracle of a divine nature. No way could it be a hoax. I mean, how else could you explain red liquid coming out of the eyes of a bronze statue?

There was some funny red liquid coming out of that Padre Pio Brand raspberry pie I had last night.

BTW, have you seen http://www.dreamviews.com/
It's all about lucid dreams. I had never heard the term until a few months ago, but it turns out I've been a lucid dreamer my whole life. The funniest part of the site:
"Before we begin, consider this: if the average person spends 8 hours a day sleeping, and lives an average life of about 75 years, then he or she has slept 1/3 (25 years!) of his or her life away. Those averages are fictitious, but hey, they serve as a pretty good attention-grabber!"

I hadn't seen that site before, it looks pretty interesting. Lucid dreaming is neat in a lot of ways, but also a little freaky. I think I generally control my dreams, but not entirely, so that there are plenty of bizarre elements.

Haha, those averages are fictitious.. that's great. :)

Let me elaborate. It's freaky to realize you're dreaming and partially controlling the subject of the dream, but not in enough control to decide the course of the dream.

Also, that fictitional statistic on that site reminds me of a cute poem- Mr. Artesian's Conscientiousness by Ogden Nash. Maybe I'll find a copy of it online...

Don't get me wrong, I fully believe that this statue could be bleeding. Stranger things have happened. But I have a question of logic for you. According to you, the statue crys blood (Not the Stigmata, but were not going there) because it is of this sainted mystic. Okay. So, according to that logic, ALL statues of this fella should bleed. Why just one?

Aw, I'm pretty sure DragonBait doesn't REALLY think the statue is bleeding- just tounge in cheek

Yeah, I was being facetious. I don't believe for a second that any statue would "bleed" on its own, not due to some sort of hoax or other easily explained reason.

I was just pointing out that people tend to deem anything a miracle just because it suits their religious fanaticism.
