I got in a heated argument once because I said that eating too much asparagus would do as much damage to your body as would eating too many donuts, its just that a lot more people eat too many donuts, so you hear about that vice a lot more often. posted by: question (reply) post date: 11.27.03 (11:55 pm) LSD is pretty powerful, really. I dont know if it burns up brain cells like the cliche propaganda you hear about. Sometimes a drug like that could affect how well you can organize your thoughts and also affect your memory. Can affect your ability to learn new info as ability to recall is sometimes affected. However, I guess it is worth it at the time. Later in life other things become more satisfying and drugs arent necessary. It is probably more harmful when someone slips it on you, rather than when you know you are taking it and you prepare yourself to handle it. Well, a very interesting point of view. Take care, and happy Thanksgiving. posted by: DragonBait22 (reply) post date: 11.28.03 (2:26 pm) Reply to: question Yes, LSD is powerful. But that wasn't really the point of all this. The two major points were 1) ANY substance entering your body can be harmful, and 2) the government should not decide for us what we may or may not put into our bodies. I suppose I did belittle the impact of LSD, but that wasn't really the point of this. The power of LSD may be greater than the impact of tryptophan in turkey, for example, but both alter the chemical makeup in the body and cause certain reactions. Both can be dangerous, granted small doses of LSD are surely more harmful than small amounts of turkey, but the point remains the same: ANYTHING entering your body has some sort of effect on you, and no one should dictate what you may or may not put into your body. You're probably right about the effects of LSD, but I think the individual should be allowed to make the decision to use or not use it, not the government. Thanks for your comment, hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. :) |
