| As you may have noticed, Lucid Dreams has been somewhat desolate as of late. I could give you some sorry excuses and apologize for not keeping you in fresh writings, but hey, it's my blog, what's it matter to you? Seriously though, I have no inspiration for new subjects these days and little interest in the same repetitive debates. However, I do encourage you to peruse the archives here and also bring up any matters you wish to discuss. I'm not going anywhere, but I am also not likely to post on a frequent basis. |

Isn't Tim Robbins some actor? I'm pretty sure I've never quoted him on this site or anywhere else. But I guess you meant Tom Robbins, the author. He is far from being a moron, but feel free to throw around insults regardless. I liked the quote, so I placed it on my blog. How is that a problem?

Lol, that's just absurd on so many levels. I am not intolerant, and if you actually read my blog, you would see that. I am not afraid to voice my opinion and plainly state that I disagree with something or someone, but I am always tolerant of others' views and opinions. If you'd really like to know about my actual ideology, just ask me, but please don't make baseless assumptions like that.

I'm young like you. But I'm not so fucking self absorbed to believe that yesterday was the first day I was born. I am not dumb enough to place all the woes in this world on one man, and forget history, context, and common sense.
You get your jollies off of a pretense of objectivity and rational thought while exhibiting neither. YOu think you somehow have amassed all of this knowledge to sound educated and important but your arguments all boil down to youthful naivete. At least, as a young person, I have the presence of mind to understand that I don't know everything and, better, that I do not think Bush is to blame for everything, including wars (on terror, Iraq) that were planted for growth decades before the Texas shit kicker took office.
You're an absurd little person. You and Therealspartacus should get together and live alone for the rest of your lives so you can constantly impress each other and shut out the real world.
And there's a bonus: you can murder as many babies as you want because it would be your "choice" to destroy what he regards as property.

First off, I'd like to say that I can't see the point of having a blog if you don't update it regularly. People will keep coming by looking for something to read, and a blog serves as a sounding board for your ideas. Surely, you haven't run out of things to say.
As for Mr. Reductio ad absurdum, I know people who hold several advanced degrees, including one in philosophy, who have worked for decades as scientists performing tasks that require a comprehensive understanding of logic to say the least, and are clearly older than you who would not agree with Reducto's arguments. Vitriolic diatribes are no substitute for logic. If it were merely your age that were the relevant factor, then older people would necessarily disagree with you. Since that is not the case, it's clearly not related solely to age. But, if the lack of maturity were a factor, then it would seem equally likely that Reducto is suffering from that problem. If you couple it with Reducto's arguments' lack of cohesion, maturity might be a contributing factor. But in your case, there's nothing corroborating those statements.
So I'd tend to disagree with Reducto's assertion.

Well, if that's what you think. Look, I'm not fond of corporate gangsters, regardless of political affiliation; I find many Christians to be delusional (note, I certainly don't think all Christians are delusional, just those who refuse to administer rational thought); and I, as does Tom Robbins, think George W. Bush is hopelessly shallow. The intellectual and visionary has no place in modern politics, it seems. And that is a tragedy.

You're what, 10 years older than I am? If you'd like to contest maturity, well, I don't think it would be any contest. The very fact that I concern myself with societal and worldly issues demonstrates that I am not self-absorbed. And I too am not dumb enough to place all the woes of the world on one man. When have I ever done any of that? I may disagree with many of the policies of this administration and the manner in which Bush has handled things, but that doesn't mean that I blame him for all the world's problems. In fact, my major points of contention with the Bush Administration are not problems in the world that are to be blamed on Bush, they are simply disagreements with the way Bush has attempted to resolve these problems, often amplifying them.
I make no pretenses for objectivity. I do, as a matter of intellectual principle, attempt to provide objective overviews of the issues I address. But I make no attempt to cloud my opinions and my biases- my view is always plainly stated. I, unlike you, invite debate and differing views. And when challenged, I defend my views and make an effort to understand the opposition view. You, however, become defensive and resort to name-calling and turning the argument around. Most likely because you have no real opinions, only those you have been taught by your religion or your political party. If you can't defend your own views, there's no point in attempting a debate. You are hopeless.

Well, thanks for the sentiment, but Spartacus and I are just friends. And, geez, that abortion statement is a prime example of your inability to learn. As both Spartacus and I have said dozens of times, we are morally opposed to abortion. I would not have an abortion. But I think that that choice should not be denied to other women.

Hey, I didn't realize you were a Tom Robbins fan. I thought Jitterbug Perfume was great when I first read it, so read almost everything else he wrote. I liked Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, so I rented the movie one night. It was horrid! I don't recommend it at all. The book makes a lot more sense from the internal viewpoint than the storyline.
Anyway, I hope you get inspired to write again.

I love Tom Robbins. Still Life with Woodpecker is my favorite and Skinny Legs and All is profound on many levels, so if you haven't yet read those, I highly recommend them. :)
